Details

Developmental Phonological Disorders are a group of language disorders that affect a child"s ability to develop normal speech by the time they are four or five years old. These stories have been written for children aged three to seven; three being the age at which a child may begin to display some phonological difficulties, and seven being the age at which these difficulties are usually resolved by, unless the phonological delay/disorder is part of a broader diagnosis. The idea of these stories is that they can be read aloud and the child listens and takes in the phonemes (sounds). They are a great way for helping children develop their speech. It"s not essential for the child to understand the story, the important thing is to encourage them to listen. The aim is for the child to hear the sound as much as possible. An essential resource for any speech & language therapist, teacher, SENCO or parent.
